Young Rape and Incest Victims Would Be Unable to Get Abortions Under Sweeping New Alabama Ban

Alabama is on the verge of banning nearly all abortions, including  those for victims of rape or incest — a move designed to push the  Supreme Court to overturn its landmark Roe v. Wade decision guaranteeing abortion access nearly 50 years ago.

The bill, which overwhelmingly  passed the state Senate on Tuesday after earlier passage in the state  House, awaits Gov. Kay Ivey’s signature.

A spokeswoman for Ivey told  multiple news outlets she would not comment until reading the final  version. However Ivey, a Republican, does not support abortions, AL.com reports.
