The Longer You’re Friends With Him On Social Media, The Longer You’re Hurting Yourself

When someone hurts you, you don’t have to make it your mission to take the high road. You’re allowed to cut them out of your world. It doesn’t make you overemotional or overdramatic.

It makes sense to delete them from your phone, your Instagram, your Snapchat. This person hurt you. Why would you want to keep tabs on them? If social media never existed, you wouldn’t be keeping in touch with each other on your own. You would be working on forgetting each other. And that’s still what you should do. You should delete them from your social media (or at least mute them so their posts never make an appearance on your feed). You should get them out of sight so you can get them out of mind.

The longer you’re friends with him on social media, the longer you’re hurting yourself.

You don’t have to keep refreshing the page to see if his relationship status has changed. You don’t have to sit there and compare yourself to every single person he dates after losing you. You don’t have to put yourself through that kind of torture.

If you’re hesitant to delete him, you have to ask yourself why. Is it because you’re secretly hoping you’ll get back together? Is it because you want to stay friends? Is it because you’re worried about looking like a bitch? No matter your reason, if seeing his posts every single day has been hurting your heart, you need to give yourself a break from him.

Maybe one day, you can add him back. Maybe one day, you can be friends again. But not right now. Right now, you need to keep your distance from him. You need to look out for yourself.

All you have to do is press a few buttons on your phone and the temptation to reach out to him will decrease dramatically. Sure, there will still be moments when your mind wanders to him because he held a special place in your heart and you’re bound to miss him every once in a while. But if you erase him from social media, you’ll no longer risk having good days ruined by unexpectedly seeing his face as you’re scrolling.

Deleting him means you won’t have to deal with that sinking feeling in your stomach whenever he posts about his newest love interest.

Deleting him means you can stop posting photos of yourself, hoping he sees, gets jealous, and kicks himself for walking away from you.

Deleting him means you can finally start moving on from him. You can finally start healing yourself from the baggage he dropped at your doorstep.

The longer you’re friends with him on social media, the longer you’re hurting yourself, so do yourself a favor and unfriend him. You don’t have to pretend to be cool with him. You don’t have to pretend he hasn’t hurt you. You don’t have to look at his selfies or his updates anymore. You can say goodbye to him — for good this time. TC mark
