Four people were killed by heavy weapon, fired by the anti-government ethnic armed group of Kayin National Union (KNU) in Myanmar's Bago region over the last two days, the official daily New Light of Myanmar reported Saturday.
The KNU launched the attack at Waboetaw area of Shwegyin township on Thursday and the blast left the four farmers dead and three others wounded.
The authorities charged the KNU with undermining peace of the state, tranquillity of community and prevalence of law and order and committing destructive acts.
During last week, a time bomb exploded at a teashop in the border town of Myawaddy in Kayin state linking Thailand's Maesot, killing two people and wounding six others.
During the same week, a bus driver was also killed and three others wounded in another mine blast in Bilin, Myanmar's southeastern Mon state, when the bus rolled on the mine.
The authorities charged the KNU with planting the bomb and mine.
KNU is the largest anti-government ethnic armed group operating on the Myanmar-Thai border for over five decades and has not ceased fire with the government.
