Australia calls off controversial Facebook trial which asked users to send NUDE photos of themselves to fight revenge porn

Facebook will no longer be able to carry out a controversial trial that asked users to send in naked pictures of themselves so the site can protect them from revenge porn attacks.

The trial was first announced in Australia several months ago and, if successful, would have been extended to the US, UK and Canada.

But Australia’s online safety watchdog has now called off the trial, saying it presents data privacy concerns, particularly in the wake of Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal.
