It was announced by The Peace Corps on Wednesday that the 340 volunteers of the organization who are stationed in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia,are being recalled after two of them contracted the virus. The two workers got infected after they came in close contact with a patient infected with the deadly virus.
The spokeswoman confirmed that though the two people are not showing any symptoms, they will be isolated after being flown back to the United States. They are in isolation even now and will stay like that till doctors declare them infection free. There was no information as to when additionalpersonnel will go back to the affectedWest African nations.
The statement said that "The agency has been and will continue to closely monitor the outbreak of the virus in collaboration with leading experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of State." The fear is spreading globally with Hong Kong and United Kingdom havingstarted testing passengers of two airlines for symptoms.
