EMP alert: 2 N. Korean satellites now orbit over U.S.

Sun, 04/24/2016 - 22:14
EMP alert: 2 N. Korean satellites now orbit over U.S. WASHINGTON - North Korea now has two satellites orbiting over the United States capable of performing a surprise electromagnetic pulse attack at an altitude and trajectory that evade U.S. National Missile Defenses, a national security expert warned in an interview with Joseph Farah' G2 Bulletin.Peter Vincent Pry told G2 Bulletin that the satellites can be commanded either to deorbit and hit a target on the ground or explode at a high altitude to create an EMP effect that would knock out the unprotected U.S. national electrical grid system and all life-sustaining critical infrastructures that depend on it."The threat," Pry said, "continues to race, hare-like, at an alarming rate, compared to the tortoise pace of our preparations."The satellites - KMS 3-2 and KMS 4 - are orbiting at an altitude of 300 miles, with trajectories that put them daily over the U.S. KMS 3-2 was launched in December 2012 and KMS 4 was launched Feb. 7.At such an altitude, an EMP could impact much of the continental United States, according to EMP experts.More:  http://www.wnd.com/2016/04/emp-alert-2-n-korean-satellites-now-orbit-over-u-s/    EU referendum: Hillary Clinton favours Remain, saying she ‘values a strong British voice’ in Europe EU referendum: Hillary Clinton favours Remain, saying she ‘values a strong British voice’ in EuropeAnd if Hillary wants the UK to stay in the EU, then there is only one thing left to do … – EU referendum: Hillary Clinton favours Remain, saying she ‘values a strong British voice’ in Europe: Hillary Clinton has said she wants the UK to stay in the European Union, adding her voice to […]EU referendum: Hillary Clinton favours Remain, saying she ‘values a strong British voice’ in EuropeTake away Saudi Arabia’s oil and all that’s left are a couple of Islamic shrines and a lot of sand and hot air Take away Saudi Arabia’s oil and all that’s left are a couple of Islamic shrines and a lot of sand and hot air– Castrated: Take away Saudi Arabia’s oil and all that’s left are a couple of Islamic shrines and a lot of sand and hot air. But they were only actually proved a century later, September 14, 2015 and announced on February 11, 2016 by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) Scientific Collaboration and Virgo Collaboration.Physicists have shown how a collision between two black holes about 1.3 billion light-years from Earth, that merged into a single, more massive spinning black hole have created gravitational waves big enough to be felt on earth. These "ripples in the distortion of space and time" will provide information on the cosmos that wouldn't have been possible by peering through any kind of telescope, Karan P. Jani and Nancy Aggarwal, Indian student scientists who work with the LIGO told IANS."Gravitational waves are a completely new way of seeing the universe. It's like humans can now perceive the sixth sense beyond the five, to comprehend the universe," said Jani, a fourth year PhD researcher in astrophysics at the Georgia Institute of Technology.Researchers say gravitational waves provide 'sixth sense' to understand universeColor revolution? Connecticut man made threat on Twitter to bomb Trump rally | 24 April 2016 | A 20-year-old Connecticut man was arrested after being accused of sending threats on Twitter to bomb a rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, authorities said on Sunday. Sean Morkys of Waterbury, Connecticut, was charged with threatening, inciting injury and breach of peace. The U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for the safety of presidential candidates, alerted the Connecticut State Police's counterterrorism office on Saturday afternoon that a Twitter user had posted, "Is someone going to bomb the trump rally or am I going to have to?" A second post warned a friend to tell relatives to leave the rally in Waterbury to avoid being harmed, state police said.

U.S. dollar set for further declines as currency investors, hedge

Sun, 04/24/2016 - 18:11
U.S. dollar set for further declines as currency investors, hedge funds begin selling U.S. dollar set for further declines as currency investors, hedge funds begin sellingCurrency investors and money managers have started exiting the US dollar for the first time since mid-2014 as neither the US economy, nor central bank policy, nor corporate earnings have provided any evidence that buying into the greenback will be profitable anytime soon.As US corporate quarterly earnings figures have proven to be a disappointment for a third consecutive quarter, and macroeconomic data indicate the broader economy is increasingly exposed to the risk of recession, US hedge funds' bearish bets on the greenback are outweighing bullish positions for the first time since July 2014. Investors are exiting the US currency for one more reason: the Federal Reserve's dovishness on policy, stemming from the weak performance of the economy, with the Fed's April policy meeting likely to end with interest rates unchanged. Subsequently, the dollar's weakness opens opportunities for US enterprises to regain some of their international competitiveness, which they lost to the greenback's rally in the last 18 months, while pushing oil and commodity prices higher, to the relief of select emerging markets. The number of US hedge funds' selling positions on the dollar surpassed buying ones by a total of 21,567 contracts in mid-April, according to data provided by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The greenback is thus poised to slide against its eight major peers for the first time since July 2014, easing the currently rife imbalances in international trade, relieving emerging markets somewhat, and exacerbating disinflationary pressures for Japan, where the yen's strength is hitting exporters' competitiveness.U.S. dollar set for further declines as currency investors, hedge funds begin sellingWhat is the miracle mineral for brain, body and spirit? Iodine What is the miracle mineral for brain, body and spirit? IodineWhen most people think about iodine, they tend to think it's only good for the thyroid. But it's not just the thyroid that is hungry for this mineral! Iodine is also concentrated in the salivary glands, the lining of the stomach and the small intestine, the breasts and ovaries, the eyes, and the part of the brain where cerebro-spinal fluid is produced.Deficiency of iodine in any tissue can cause problems with that area of the body and weakens the immune system. Some symptoms of iodine deficiency are brain fog, nodules in the skin like are common with arthritis, fibrosis and fibroids, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue.Dr. David Brownstein's book Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It is perhaps one of the best's books on iodine. In his book, he explains how iodine can kill fungi, bacteria, viruses and how it removes fluoride and enables the body to detox heavy metals— even the toxic metals (e.g., mercury, cadmium) that other detox methods can't remove. What is the miracle mineral for brain, body and spirit? "Four-nanometer-thick devices display the ability of gradual switching in both directions, thus emulating long-term potentiation/depression properties akin to biological synapses," the researchers say.

This new technology may well be implemented in the development of computer systems that operate like biological neural networks, or even an artificial intelligence that can 'think' like a human, possibly further bridging the gap between man and machine.

University of Florida Holds First Brain-Powered Drone Race University of Florida Holds First Brain-Powered Drone Race

The brain drone race is the first of its kind, according to Juan Gilbert, a professor of computer science at the University of Florida where the competition took place. The race works by fitting pilots with a Brain Computer Interface device, which sits on users’ heads and measures electrical signals from the brain. Users “think forward,” to move the drone forward, and “think right or left” to move it from side to side.

Milk thistle: The many unknown benefits

Milk thistle: The many unknown benefits Milk thistle: The many unknown benefitsMilk thistle is most well-known and widely-studied for its benefits on liver health. However, milk thistle also has numerous other proven health benefits not many know about.Milk thistle boosts overall liver function and health, protecting the liver from damaging toxins, detoxifying it, regenerating its cells, and giving it a glutathione boost.Research has also shown milk thistle helps with various liver conditions, including cirrhosis, poisoning, hepatitis (viral or alcoholic, B or C), sluggish liver, liver congestion, fatty liver, jaundice, and other liver issues related to drug use and alcoholism.Milk thistle: The many unknown benefitsIllegal occupation continues unabated: Israel to seize 1,250 acres of Palestinian land in West Bank Illegal occupation continues unabated: Israel to seize 1,250 acres of Palestinian land in West BankThe Israeli regime is set to expropriate more than a thousand acres of Palestinian land in the northern part of West Bank irrespective of the international outcry against the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied territories. On Saturday, Israeli authorities sent notices to the residents of the Palestinian village of Jalud, situated approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Nablus, alerting the locals that 1,250 acres of their land were to be seized, in what appeared to be the retroactive legalization of unlawful settlement expansion activities in the area.Officials from Jalud's local council said Israeli officials have already built Adei Ad, Esh Kodesh, Ahiya, and Kidah settlements in the area, and their recent measure is in line with their policy of expropriation of Palestinian lands.Illegal occupation continues unabated: Israel to seize 1,250 acres of Palestinian land in West BankGerman scientists discover 11th century Persian scholar's supernova surveillance German scientists discover 11th century Persian scholar's supernova surveillanceGerman scientists have uncovered a text written by famous Persian philosopher Ibn Sina, who appears to report having sighted a supernova that occurred in 1006 AD.For the first time scientists have studied a text by noted tenth century polymath Ibn Sina (known as Avicenna in Latin), in which the scholar described observations of a supernova in the year 397 of the Islamic Hijri calendar, calculated as 1,006 AD.Ibn Sina (980-1037 AD) was a Persian physician and philosopher who is regarded as the most famous and influential of the medieval Islamic world's philosopher-scientists.German scientists discover 11th century Persian scholar's supernova surveillanceWashington desperately trying to foment more revolutions to prevent BRICS cooperation Washington desperately trying to foment more revolutions to prevent BRICS cooperationHaving removed the reformist President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Washington is now disposing of the reformist President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff.Washington used a federal judge to order Argentina to sacrifice its debt restructuring program in order to pay US vulture funds the full value of defaulted Argentine bonds that the vulture funds had bought for a few pennies on the dollar. They were opportunists after easy money and were used by Washington to get rid of a reformist government.President Kirchner resisted and, thus, she had to go. American intelligence sources said Sunday they are not sure that Iran's April 19 launch of its new "Simorgh" intercontinental ballistic missile was for putting a satellite into orbit, as Tehran claims. They said it may have been intended to test the third stage of the ICBM and that the Iranians had no intention of launching a satellite. US defense officials were earlier quoted as saying American intelligence services view the launch as a partial success although the missile did not reach orbit. The Simorgh is considered to be a main part of Iran's long-range missile development program.

Mahmoud Alavi, Iran's minister of intelligence, said Saturday that his country had offered Syrian President Bashar Assad the option of moving with his family from Damascus to Iran so he could lead his regime's war against the rebels from there. According to Alawi, Assad responded that "his family was like any other Syrian family" so it would remain in the capital.

British cruise-liners and commercial shipping have been warned to avoid the coast near to the Libyan city of Sirte, on the Mediterranean, and there is a credible prospect that ISIS could send terrorists across the sea to Italy to mount attacks, he warned.

Police departments around the nation have taken predictive crime prevention to a new level by building fake user accounts, as well as posing as genuine people to gather information about local events, Tech.Mic reports. Local agents put on a “digital mask” and pose as “members of the community,” allowing them to gather personal information about suspects they consider a high risk of being involved in a future crime or have existing charges. In a social media guide for law enforcement officials published by the Justice Department, the document details, officers create fraudulent profiles even though Facebook officially bans the practice.

Following his anti-Brexit Op-Ed which sparked much controversy and confusion as to just why the US president was interfering with yet another domestic issue, Obama held a press conference with UK PM David Cameron in which he in no uncertain terms threatened the UK with trade retaliation if the country were to exit the EU. He said that "it's fair to say that maybe some point down the line there might be a UK-US trade agreement but that's not going to happen anytime soon because our focus is negotiating with a big bloc, the European Union, to get a trade agreement done. And the UK is going to be in the back of the queue, not because we don't have a special relationship but because given the heavy lift on any trade agreement, us having access to a big market with a lot of countries rather than trying to do piecemeal trade agreements is hugely efficient."

A government bioethics panel on Friday approved gene modifications of fertilized human eggs for basic research purposes, while rejecting the technology’s clinical use due partly to the unknown impact on the next generation. Studies on so-called genome editing are under way to use it for animals, plants and human body cells, but whether the technology should be applicable to fertilized human eggs is being debated worldwide after Chinese scientists reported gene editing of human embryos last year, in what was believed to be the world’s first such case.

The importance of saying "No" in a healthy life

Sat, 04/23/2016 - 17:26
The importance of saying "No" in a healthy life The importance of saying "No" in a healthy lifeIn the health and fitness arena, taglines often sell the idea of "accept no limits." After all, we're supposed to believe in ourselves, push through boundaries, improve exponentially and show them all, right? Dramatic images, big numbers and extreme makeovers get the spotlight. And when people work hard for what they achieve, I think it's great. My own primary focus on MDA is helping people live their best life with the least amount of pain, suffering and sacrifice possible. To that end, I offer ample positive advice for what to do. Inherent to the bigger picture, however, (and just as critical in my opinion) is the skill of discerning what not to do. Today I'm talking limits—and how knowing where to draw the line is essential to living an awesome life.I know we all live in a culture of "more is better." At various points of my life I've been tempted by that siren song. (I am a former Cardio King after all.) And yet the last few decades have affirmed a very different truth for myself and for others I've observed.Because of the work I do, I meet a lot of people who are motivated to live a healthier life. It's one of the things I love most about what I do in fact. And, yet, as a result I also see the full spectrum of behavior around "healthy" action. The importance of saying "No" in a healthy lifeAmerica takes when it gives: There is always a profitable payoff or strategic goal driving U.S. 'aid' America takes when it gives: There is always a profitable payoff or strategic goal driving U.S. 'aid'I was in first grade the first time I recall hearing how America was sending aid to millions overseas. The year was 1962, at the time we only had 3 TV stations to watch, that is if one lived in a big town. Over half a century later the truth of American giving casts a dark and ominous shadow over our heritage. Here is a short story my countrymen need to hear, but one which few will enjoy reading. My Dad was in the US Navy in World War II. A PT boat commander, he returned to America's shores from the South Pacific to take up life where he had left off after graduating college. Like most of his contemporaries, Albert E. Butler truly believed his sacrifices had defeated a great evil. He also believed in the America we've all been taught to believe in, the one where the dream of peace and freedom is not just possible, but an eventuality. Later in his life, my father began writing a book about politics, geo-strategy, and the causation for most of the world's ills. He never finished the work; an epic work entitled "One Nation Under Two Flags". I mention it here, because we have been a nation ruled by two masters. One, our own immutable sense of equality and potential, it has driven us to paramount achievements and noble sacrifices. While the other "master" has deceived us, manipulated us, and soiled the name of the United States of America like a dirty dish rag. I think many reading this will agree, this betrayal is not simply onerous, it is unforgivable. Chief among the mistruths we've been told, is the real nature of our good heartedness and charity, our giving of ourselves and what we have - only so that wealthy elitists can do what they always do - take advantage. If you are like I am, you will be incensed to know, the devastation and death that has come about in the name of goodness. The fact is, anytime the United States or her allies invest in giving aid, there is a profitable payoff of strategic goal behind.America takes when it gives: There is always a profitable payoff or strategic goal driving U.S. 'aid'New report states police forces are preparing for riots on a national scale New report states police forces are preparing for riots on a national scaleFascism doesn't often sweep in overnight and take over some hapless nation's government; rather, it gradually seeps into the cultural fabric — as is quietly taking place all around the globe, evidenced by an upsurge in sales of riot equipment that has gone largely unnoticed.A new report from analysts with industry research group, Sandler Research, forecasts the Global Riot Control System Market for the next four years — but beyond a burgeoning market to parallel the expanding global police state, it appears world governments are also keenly aware of civilian discontent. The first two parts, focusing on Brazil and South Africa, can be found here and here. Up next: Part II on the assault on Russia, which focuses on the political, psychological and military aspects that run in tandem with the economic war on Moscow. The U.S.-NATO Empire, with its centers of power in Washington, on Wall Street, and in the city of London, is on the offensive against the BRICS countries. This assault takes many forms, each tailored to its specific target. The ongoing soft coup in Brazil has recently entered a new stage with the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff of the left-wing Workers' Party. Simultaneously, the destabilization of the ANC-led government in South Africa continues as political forces align to remove President Jacob Zuma. These two situations illustrate clearly the very potent forms of subversion via Western-funded political formations and movements being employed against Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the bloc of emerging economies also known as BRICS.However, when it comes to a country as large as Russia, with its vast military capabilities, consolidated and wildly popular political leadership, and growing antagonism toward the West, the tools available to the Empire to undermine and destabilize are in some ways more limited. Indeed, in the context of Russia, the popular mobilization pretext does not apply, and so that weapon in the imperial arsenal is blunted considerably. But there are other, equally potent (and equally dangerous) methods to achieve the desired effect.Russia is the target of a multi-faceted, asymmetric campaign of destabilization that has employed economic, political, and psychological forms of warfare, each of which has been specifically designed to inflict maximum damage on the Kremlin. While the results of this multi-pronged assault have been mixed, and their ultimate effect being the subject of much debate, Moscow is, without a doubt, ground zero in a global assault against the BRICS nations.BRICS under attack: Russia targeted by Western banks, governments and the price of oilSOTT FOCUS: Saudis complicit in 9/11 attacks (unless they kowtow to USA and get Russia) SOTT FOCUS: Saudis complicit in 9/11 attacks (unless they kowtow to USA and get Russia)Remember September 11th, 2001? Every man woman and true-blue child in the USA was up in arms. The outrage! The audacity! This is war! Who dunnit?! The American people were shocked, traumatized, and needed to chill and think things through, but their government had a better idea: ride the deliberately manufactured tidal wave of emotion over to the Middle East, with the US military in tow, to get the one man responsible: Osama bin Laden. Sure!A few hastily-cobbled-together intelligence reports and a few weeks of mass news coverage later, and the whole nation was, predictably, baying for the blood of not just Osama, but all those sand-nigger, camel-jockeying, towel-head t'rrists, wherever they might be! He was hiding out in Afghanistan with the Taliban! The very same Taliban that the US funded and armed in the 80s to keep the Soviets out. Clinton-Appointed Judge Supports Gag Orders on FBI National Security Letter Recipients Clinton-Appointed Judge Supports Gag Orders on FBI National Security Letter Recipients

In a decision unsealed this week, a federal judge ruled that so-called national security letters issued by the government to gain subscriber information from banks, telecommunication companies, Internet service providers and others are not unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Susan Illston's ruling (pdf) means that the government can continue to issue the letters known as NSLs with accompanying gag orders that forbid the recipients to disclose the letters to the public or to the target of the subpoenas. Federal investigators issue thousands of these letters each year to Internet service providers, insurance companies, doctors, banks and other institutions every year. The letters, which seek personal information about the companies' customers, do not require a judge's signature.

Missed this one. Here you go. Good luck to this guy. In places this country appears to be going nuts. This was not an industrial operation. This was about sustainable living. But some people in our government seem increasingly in agreement with Benito Mussolini who said, “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” Even rainwater.

It's not just Wall Street banks. Most companies and groups that paid Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to speak between 2013 and 2015 have lobbied federal agencies in recent years, and more than one-third are government contractors, an Associated Press review has found. Their interests are sprawling and would follow Clinton to the White House should she win election this fall. The AP's review of federal records, regulatory filings and correspondence showed that almost all the 82 corporations, trade associations and other groups that paid for or sponsored Clinton's speeches have actively sought to sway the government — lobbying, bidding for contracts, commenting on federal policy and in some cases contacting State Department officials or Clinton herself during her tenure as secretary of state.

A river near a fracking site in Queensland, Australia exploded into flames after a coal seam gas (CSP) protester sparked a kitchen lighter above the water surface. Footage uploaded by Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham shows huge flames erupting from methane gas bubbling to the surface of the Condamine River. He shared the video on his website and social media accounts to highlight his party’s concerns about fracking and the extraction of coal seam gas.

Led by researchers at the University of Miami Department of Public Health Sciences at the Miller School of Medicine, and the School of Architecture, the study showed that higher greenness was linked to significantly lower rates of diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, as well as fewer chronic health conditions. The findings, published online April 6 by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, are based on 2010 -- 2011 health data reported for approximately 250,000 Miami-Dade Medicare beneficiaries over age 65, and a measure of vegetative presence based on NASA satellite imagery. The study was the first of its kind to examine block-level greenness and its relationship to health outcomes in older adults, and the first to measure the impact of greenness on specific cardio-metabolic diseases.Nature heals: Living in green neighborhoods linked with significantly lower risk of illnessResearcher discover unique behavior of water molecules unmatched by any known gas, liquid or solid states Researcher discover unique behavior of water molecules unmatched by any known gas, liquid or solid statesNeutron scattering and computational modeling have revealed unique and unexpected behavior of water molecules under extreme confinement that is unmatched by any known gas, liquid or solid states. In a paper published in Physical Review Letters, researchers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory describe a new tunneling state of water molecules confined in hexagonal ultra-small channels - 5 angstrom across - of the mineral beryl. An angstrom is 1/10-billionth of a meter, and individual atoms are typically about 1 angstrom in diameter. The discovery, made possible with experiments at ORNL's Spallation Neutron Source and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom, demonstrates features of water under ultra confinement in rocks, soil and cell walls, which scientists predict will be of interest across many disciplines."At low temperatures, this tunneling water exhibits quantum motion through the separating potential walls, which is forbidden in the classical world," said lead author Alexander Kolesnikov of ORNL's Chemical and Engineering Materials Division. "This means that the oxygen and hydrogen atoms of the water molecule are 'delocalized' and therefore simultaneously present in all six symmetrically equivalent positions in the channel at the same time. It's one of those phenomena that only occur in quantum mechanics and has no parallel in our everyday experience."Researcher discover unique behavior of water molecules unmatched by any known gas, liquid or solid statesNew Yale Law School report: 'Trapped in a Black Box: Growing Terrorist Watchlisting in Everyday Policing' New Yale Law School report: 'Trapped in a Black Box: Growing Terrorist Watchlisting in Everyday Policing'Comment: Since the synthetic terror of 911, the national security surveillance state has slowly but assuredly seen to it that more and more U.S. citizens "fit" the profile of terrorists. With this one label, a perception has been promulgated by the pathocrats that, for all intents and purposes, considers an ever larger section of the general public 'terrorist material' - and ought to be treated as such. Taking these developments to their logical end, we can eventually expect that many more individuals will be added to these lists and at some point incarcerated on the very flimsiest of reasons. We already saw this during WWII. But this time promises to be much worse.A new report highlights the lack of oversight and exponential growth in the number of Americans placed on domestic intelligence watchlists.A new analysis from the American Civil Liberties Union and a clinic at the Yale Law School is calling attention to the hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been placed on a variety of domestic terror watchlists. The report, "Trapped in a Black Box: Growing Terrorist Watchlisting in Everyday Policing," details how the ACLU and the clinic at Yale Law School view this expansion of domestic watchlists as a potential threat to privacy and liberty. The researchers reviewed 13,000 pages of information, including pages released from the Federal Bureau of Investigations via a Freedom of Information Act request and lawsuit by the ACLU and the Civil Liberties and the Civil Liberties and National Security Clinic at the law school. The team also studied information obtained by the Electronic Privacy Information Center and the government's Watchlisting Guidance. They found that there were less than 10,000 entries in 2003 as part of the Violent Gangs and Terrorist Organizations File, but by 2008 that number grown to 272,198 individuals under a successor category, the Known or Suspected Terrorist File. The report states that the KST list, "is part of a vast system of domestic surveillance of people whom law enforcement labels suspect based on vague and loose criteria, with serious constitutional and privacy implications for those who are included in the file."New Yale Law School report: 'Trapped in a Black Box: Growing Terrorist Watchlisting in Everyday Policing'What are the similarities & differences between - Mercury & Aluminum in vaccines and lead in Flint's Water? Elderly widows less stressed and frail than married women, says new study Elderly widows less stressed and frail than married women, says new studyMarriage has long been thought to be beneficial, in sickness and in health. But a new study suggests that widows actually suffer less stress and frailty than wives whose husbands are still alive. The findings are in contrast to previous research which showed marriage has a protective effect on health, lowering the risk of a heart attack, depression and increasing the chance of surviving from cancer. The new study, by the University of Padova, found that while men suffer negative consequences when their wife dies  -  because they rely more heavily on their spouse - women appear to get healthier.Elderly widows less stressed and frail than married women, says new studyBuddhism for the new age: Chinese temple introduces robot monk Buddhism for the new age: Chinese temple introduces robot monkA Buddhist temple on the outskirts of Beijing has decided to ditch traditional ways and use technology to attract followers.Longquan temple says it has developed a robot monk that can chant Buddhist mantras, move via voice command, and hold a simple conversation.Named Xian'er, the 60-cm (2-foot) tall robot resembles a cartoon-like novice monk in yellow robes with a shaven head, holding a touch screen on his chest.Xian'er can hold a conversation by answering about 20 simple questions about Buddhism and daily life, listed on his screen, and perform seven types of motions on his wheels.Buddhism for the new age: Chinese temple introduces robot monkUS suicide rate at a 30 year high US suicide rate at a 30 year highThe suicide rate in the US went up by 24 percent from 1999 to 2014, according to a new federal report, with the top increases seen in females aged 10 to 14 and males aged 45 to 64.A new analysis by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has reported that the rate of suicide in the US steadily increased from 1999 to 2014 after consistently decreasing from 1986 to 1999. The report found that greater annual rises occurred after 2006.From 1999 to 2014, suicide rates increased for males and females of all ages between 10 and 74, the NCHS revealed Friday. Is Hillary Clinton the Democrats' Richard Nixon?Richard Nixon's similarities to Hillary Clinton are remarkable:1: Both were highly successful politicians who had exceptionally negative net-approval ratings from the U.S. public, but were viewed highly favorably by the voters within their own Party.2: Both were unsuccessful in their first run for the Presidency, but managed to come back and ran considerably more successful campaigns the second time around.3: Both were highly distrusted, except by the voters within their own Party.4: Both went into their Presidential campaign years (especially the second time around) as being "the candidate with experience."5: Both were war-hawks and proponents of a big military, but were also liberals on social policies and regulatory policies (for example, Nixon signed into law the National Environmental Policy Act, several environmental initiatives including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, the Mammal Marine Protection Act, and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency; and, he started the Earned-Income Tax Credit, which "now lifts more children out of poverty than any other government program").Is Hillary Clinton the Democrats' Richard Nixon?Truth, the first casualty of war: Untangling Western media lies about Azerbaijan's attack against Nagorno-Karabakh Truth, the first casualty of war: Untangling Western media lies about Azerbaijan's attack against Nagorno-Karabakh"A foreign correspondent is someone who flies around from hotel to hotel and thinks the most interesting thing about any story is the fact that he has arrived to cover it." —Tom Stoppard, Night and Day   The Crimean War, in mid-19th century, introduced the world to the cardigan, the raglan jersey, and the balaclava headdress. It also introduced a new profession: the foreign correspondent. And almost immediately after the war the axiom "truth is the first casualty of war" was born because of the falsehoods spread by foreign correspondents on both sides, not to mention Tennyson's overheated and wrong-headed poem.Since then, as in any other profession, there have been capable and honest foreign correspondents and reporters who have been incompetent, ignorant or propaganda tools of their nation or their employers. Ernest Hemingway, a giant of American literature, didn't hesitate to color his coverage of the Spanish Civil War with propaganda for the side he favoured. A British daily reported that the Americans had been victorious at Pearl Harbor. Countless American foreign correspondents beat the Pentagon drum during the Vietnam War. More recently, "embedded" American journalists reported how the US forces had "liberated" Iraq.Foreign correspondents can be notoriously uninformed and cavalier about the countries they report on: for example, Middle East foreign correspondents of Western media who speak Arabic are as rare as atheists in Mecca. Most Western correspondents thus depend on local "minders" and a dubious local media to report what's happening. The situation has worsened in recent years as Western media have closed news bureaus around the globe and lone correspondents cover whole continents. This has given rise to the "airport reporter"... the journalist who flies in to a hot spot for a few days and covers complicated conflicts with a few hundred words then flies away to chase another conflict.Truth, the first casualty of war: Untangling Western media lies about Azerbaijan's attack against Nagorno-KarabakhVideo: Raining Humvees! In the mid-1960s, amid growing skepticism about the Warren Commission’s lone-gunman findings on John F. Kennedy’s assassination, there was a struggle inside CBS News about whether to allow the critics a fair public hearing at the then-dominant news network. Some CBS producers pushed for a debate between believers and doubters and one even submitted a proposal to put the Warren Report “on trial,” according to internal CBS documents.

Former FDA commissioner Margaret Hamburg named in massive conspiracy and racketeering lawsuit involving Johnson & Johnson, a Wall Street hedge fund, and the Levaquin drug

The former head of the FDA, Margaret Hamburg, used the federal agency to run a massive conspiracy of racketeering and fraud in order to generate millions of dollars in drug company profits for her husband's hedge fund firm, alleges a damning lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The lawsuit alleges that while acting as FDA commissioner, Margaret Hamburg engaged in a wide-ranging conspiracy to approve an extremely dangerous drug known to cause severe (and even deadly) side effects, in order to financially benefit her husband's hedge fund which held very large financial positions in Johnson & Johnson, makers of the drug. "Defendants, each and every one of them, operated a criminal conspiracy at least between the years 2009 to 2015 to fraudulently suppress warnings about the devastating effects of Levaquin," says the complaint.

He reiterated the point that the blame for this lies with Western nations that hurried to celebrate their victory and paid little attention to cooperation with Russia on global security issues. Gorbachev added that the new global world required completely new rules of behavior and morals, and that these should be developed by all nations together. The first and only Soviet president also pointed out that the sides that gained the most from globalization so far were shady financial structures that lived off artificial crises they organized all over the world, as well as organized criminal groups of global proportions. "Financial structures reporting to no one were the fastest to adjust to globalization and make profits from it. They are inflating one market bubble after another and make billions literally from thin air. And these billions fall into the pockets of the circle of people that becomes narrower and narrower and these people dodge taxes. In recent days we saw new examples proving this and these examples were just the tip of the iceberg," Gorbachev told the paper, apparently hinting at the leaks that revealed the offshore operations of the Panama company Mossack Fonseca."And we have not yet mentioned the organized crime structures that are feeling quite comfortable in the globalized environment. These are illegal traders in weapons and drugs, human traffickers, cyber-criminals and of course terrorists," he noted.Gorbachev: Putin & Obama should meet, cooperate over UkrainePolitics|Donald Trump's More Accepting Views on Gay Issues Set Him Apart in GOP - New York Times Politics|Donald Trump's More Accepting Views on Gay Issues Set Him Apart in GOP - New York Times
